The aim of the hearing aid bank is to assist those on low incomes, as defined by the Federal Government, who are either excluded from the paid workforce or at risk or leaving the paid workforce due to hearing loss.
Successful applicants will be notified in writing and receive a financial subsidy for a basic hearing aid, as defined by Department of Health. The value will be approximately $1050 for one aid and $1,500 for two aids. Where two aids are required, this will be specified.
The successful applicant will be able to choose where they wish to have their aid fitted/supplied.
Applications will be approved on a ‘first come, first served’ basis until available funds each year are exhausted.
We welcome applications at any time and aim to inform applicants within four weeks.
Successful applicants have the right to choose a more expensive aid, if it is clinically appropriate. In these instances, Hearing Aid Bank encourages service providers to supply the recommended device/s at minimal or no additional cost to the applicant.
